The aim of the present study was to prepare conventional and thermoreversible or in situ mucoadhesive nasal formulations of midazolam hydrochloride (HCl) prepared from a natural mucilage isolated from Linum usitatissimum L. seeds and to compare the various parameters like texture profile analysis, viscosity, mucoadhesive strength, ex vivo permeation study and in vivo drug absorption study. The formulations were prepared using three different concentrations of the isolated mucilage and sodium taurocholate was used as a penetration enhancer to obtain rapid delivery of the drug into systemic circulation.
