Comparative analysis of thermal envelope and energy demand between two types of housing, thatched roof and traditional house, placed in Ancares Mountains in Northwest Spain is presented. These housing typologies are compare to others in European countries, notably in Britain, in relation to study the straw thermal properties in roofs. A study model is proposed to obtain conclusions about the thatched roof house as a traditional architecture example and its value as a sustainable model.
