Asociación de la postura y maloclusiones dentales en los paciente adolescentes del Instituto Mexicano de Ortodoncia

Malocclusion refers to the incorrect positioning and alignment of the teeth, as well as the inadequate gear ratio between the upper and lower teeth. Malocclusions can not only be related to the position of the jaw and skull, but also to the cervical spine and different structures. Purpose: to present this study to those postgraduate students, orthodontist colleagues and public interested in the subject, in order to expand their knowledge, a study was conducted at the Mexican Orthodontics Institute on the relationship between body posture and malocclusions dental, Methodology: a sample of 50 patients aged 12 to 16 years, of both genders and presenting mixed, late or permanent dentition was performed. Results: Class II malocclusion was the most prevalent with 58%, followed by class I malocclusions with 24%, class III with 10%, with respect to body posture, patients presented a normal posture in 50% of the patients. The most prevalent alteration was scoliosis with 44%. Conclusions: the incorrect postural attitude and the presence of malocclusions, indicates that these occur frequently from childhood and can be caused by multiple factors, so they must be diagnosed in time to avoid major problems.
