Estimates of nutritive value of Venezuelan feed resources destined for monogastric animals

Chemicalcompositionandinvitrodigestibility(IVND,pepsin/pancreatin)weredeterminedon13feedresourcesfoundinVenezuela,groupedaccordingtoproteinsources:(PhaseoluscalcaratusRoxb;Earthwormmeal,nbsp;Eiseniafoetida;andSoyabeanmeal,SojamaximaL.),treeresources(Leucaena,Leucaenaleucocephala;Mulberry,Morusalba;Trichantheragigantea)andagroindustrialybyproductos(rejectsfromsesame,nbsp;Sesamunindicum.L;ricepolishings,nbsp;Oryzasativa;sweetpotatofoliage,Ipomoeabatatas);sugarcaneleaves,Saccharumofficinarum),foragegroundnut,Arachispintoi;wheatbran,Triticumvulgare;andmealmadefromdriedrabbitintestines).LevelsofNrangedfrom6.30%(Phaseoluscalcaratus)to8.43%(soyabeanmeal).IVNDvalueswere:96.1%(soya),88.7%(earthwormmeal)and89.7%(Phaseoluscalcaratus).TreesourceshadNlevelsbetweennbsp;4.20%(leucaena)and3.12%(Trichantheragigantea)andandIVNDof66.0%(leucaena)and30.1%(Trichantheragigantea).Agroindustrialessubproductosnbsp;had1.15%N(sugarcaneleaves)and3.87%(wheatbran)andIVNDof79.4%(rabbitintestinemealandwheatbran)and33.9%(sweetpotatofoliage).LevelsofNDFwerepoorlyrelatedtoIVNDvalues(-0.38).
