ThisexperimentwascarriedouttostudytheproductivebehaviourafterweaningofPelibueysheep,fedwithquot;Bquot;molassesadlibitum,Digitariadecumbenshaysprinkledwithaurea/molassessolutionandthreesupplementswithhighinclusionofsugarcaneby-products(Saccharina:sundriedfiltercake:brownsugarsweepings).ThesupplementswereA(40:20:17%),B(50:15:17%)andC(60:10:17%)respectively.ThirtymalePelibueysheepwith14.2kgofinitialweightandapproximately120daysoldweredistributedatrandominthreesimilargroups,accordingtothesupplementsA,BandC.After84daysofstudytheresultsshowedsignificantdifferences(P0.05)betweensupplementsforfinalweightsanddailygains:A(24.9kgand127g/day),B(22.2kgand96g/day)andC(21.0kgand81g/day).Feedconversionratiowasdifferent(P0.01)amongsupplements:A(10.8),B(13.64)andC(14.38kgfeedintake/kggain).quot;Bquot;molassesvoluntaryintakerangedbetween117and118g/kgW0.75,andwasnotaffectedbythesupplementused.Therewerenoeffectsofsupplementoncarcassmeasurements.Atastepanelreportedthatthemostacceptablemeatwasfromtheanimalsfedwiththehighestleveloffiltercake(A).Theexperimentalfindingsconfirmthepotentialofsugarcaneby-productsdietsinsheepfattening.
