Atrialnbsp;onnbsp;identifyingwhichvegetableoilwasbestappreciatedbypigletswascarriedoutatnbsp;thepigresearchcentrenbsp;nbsp;ofGlidji.Thirty-sixpiglets(12males,12castratednbsp;malesand12females)resultingfromthecrossingwithcrossbredboar(#9794;Largewhitex#9792;Landrace)XlocalSowofbodyweight6.5-7kgwereassignedtooneofthreetreatmentsconsistingofvegetableoilsfrompalm(PA),palmkernel(PT)andcopra(CO).Theyweredividedintothreebatchesnbsp;of6subjects(2castratedmales+2wholemales+2females)withtworepetitionsofeach.Theywerefedwiththesamepigstarternbsp;dietnbsp;during60daysandweresupplementedwithoneofthethreeoils,traditionallyfoundinthesurveyzone.ThepigletsallocatedtoPTmorequicklyconsumedtheirrationcomparedtopigletsoftheotherbatches(p0,05);theanalysisoftheobservationsrelatedtothestateofthefaecesindicatedthatthosefromnbsp;treatmentnbsp;PTwereclosestnormalstate.TheaveragedailygainofweightwasbetterforpigsonPtcomparedtothoseonPaandCO,nbsp;respectively197,100and144g/day(p0,01);nbsp;thefeedconversionwasalsobetterforPT.nbsp;Thusthepalmkerneloilwasnbsp;theonemostappreciatednbsp;bypigletsinthepostweaningstage.
