Eighteencrossbredcastratedmalepigswithinitialbodyweightsintherangeof16to28kgwereallocatedtoindividualpensin3blocksaccordingtobodyweight,andwithinblockstoa2*3factorialarrangementof6treatments.Thefirstfactorwasgradeofricebran(fineorcoarse);thesecondfactorwasprocessingoftarofoliage(driedleaves,ensiledleavesorensiledleavespluspetioles).nbsp;Thefinegradericebranhadhigherpercentagesofcrudeproteinandcrudefatandlessfiberthanthecoarsegradeandsupportedbetterperformanceingrowingpigs.Taroleavesandtaroleaves+petioles,thathadbeenensiledwithricebran,nbsp;werelesspalatablethantaroleavesthathadbeensun-dried.
