nbsp;nbsp;Twentyfourcrossbredcastratedmalepigswithinitialbodyweightfrom14to28kgwereallocatedto4treatmentsaccordingtoa2*2factorialarrangement.Thefactorswere:freshorwilted(24h)cassavaleavesandsupplementationornotwithDL-methionine.nbsp;Thecassavaleavessupplied36%ofthedietDMand75%ofthedietarycrudeprotein,theotheringredientsbeingricebranandsugarpalmsyrupnbsp;nbsp;SupplementationwithDL-methionineincreasedgrowthrateandimprovedfeedconversionwhentheleaveswerefedfreshbuthadnoeffectwhentheleaveswerewilted24hours.Wiltingtheleaves24hoursimprovedgrowthratesbutnotfeedconversionintheabsenceofmethioninesupplementationbuthadnoeffectwhensupplementarymethioninewasprovided.Dailyintakesoftheequivalentof5mgHCN/kgliveweightwerenottoxicundertheconditionsoftheexperiment.nbsp;
