Economic analysis of traditional duck farmer’s household in Minahasa Regency North Sulawesi, Indonesia

Thisstudydescribestheeconomicsituationofduckbreeders#8217;householdsundertraditionalrearingsysteminrelationtodecisionmakinginproduction,timeuseallocation,incomeandconsumption.Theobjectiveofthestudywastoobservetheduckbusinesscontributiontothefamilyincomeandtherelationshipoffactorsaffectingtheeconomyoftheduckfarmer#8217;sfamily.ThisstudywascarriedoutinMinahasaregency,NorthSulawesi,withfocuson5districtsofhighduckpopulations.Thestudyusedasurveymethodcollectingdatathroughinterviews,questioner,andfromrelatedservices/institutions.Ahundredduckfarmerhouseholdswereselectedusingpurposivemethodsampling.Datawereanalysedusingdescriptivestatisticsandeconometricmodeling.Theduckfarmbusiness,basedupontherevenuestructureofthefarmer#8217;sfamily,gavethehighestcontribution.Theeffectofeconomicfactorsofduckfarmer#8217;sfamilyindicatedthatduckfarmingundertraditionalsysteminfluencedthelaborallocationandtheproductioncostwhichwouldeventuallyaffecttheeggproduction,theduckbusinessincome,thefamilyincome,theconsumptionandthefamilysavings.
