Comparison of the growth performances of young rabbits in fattening fed with a floury diet containing sunflower seed cake to those of young rabbits fed with the pellet form

nbsp;Theincorporationofsunflowerseedcakeinthefeedingofrabbitsinfatteningwasrealizedin138youngrabbitsof35to36daysold.Theseyoungrabbitsweredistributedatrandomintwogroupsincagesatarateof3animalspercageforeachofthethreerepetitions.Waterandfeedweredistributedadlibitum.nbsp;Thepelletdietbasedonsunflowerseedcakewasmoreconsumed(68g/lapin/d)andlesswasted(0.23g/lapin)comparedtotheflouryfeedbasedonsunflowerseedcake(61Gand5.2Gperrabbitrespectivelyforconsumptionandthewasting).Moreover,thepelletdietinducedanaveragedailygain(21.5g/d)significantlybetter(P0.001)thanitsflourycorrespondent(17.0g/d).Attheendofthetest,therabbitsfedwithpelletdietweighed1644Gwhilethosefedwithflourydietfweighed1382g.Thefeedefficiencyoftheflourydiet(4.14)wassignificantlyhigher(P0.001)thanthatofthepelletdiet(3.68).Themortalityrateofthegroupfedwiththepelletdietwas10.14%,against18.8%forthatfedwiththeflourydiet.Inaddition,thepelletfeediseconomicallymoreprofitablethantheflouryform.nbsp;
