Theprocessingofone(1)tonofcassavainsmall-scalesourstarchagroindustriesinthenorthernregionofDepartamentodelCauca(Colombia)required10,233.4m3ofwater.nbsp;Asafinalproductoftheprocess,234kgofstarch,1,740kgofsolidwastes,and8,908kgofwastewaterwereobtained.nbsp;Afrecho,manchaandcascarilla(peel),are96.2%ofthesolidwastesgenerated.nbsp;Treatmentmanagementofthesewastesintheregionisnotadequateandcausesnegativeimpactupontheenvironment.nbsp;nbsp;Herein,alternativeofusingtherecoveryofsolidwastesforanimalfeedandcompostingisexplored.nbsp;Thehigh-energyvalueoftheafrechoandmancha,canbeusedforcattle,pork,andpoultryfeeding;butgivenitslowcontentofproteinitisnecessarytousewithotherhighproteinfeed.Aspercomposting,AfrechoandcascarillareveallowvaluesintheC:Pratio.nbsp;ForAfrechothehighvaluesintheC/Nratio(46)andhumidity(90%),aswellasitslowpHvalue(4.8),makeitnecessarytomixsuchwithotherresiduestoobtaincompost.
