:Objective To investigate the efficacy of acupoint catgut-embedding in treatment of antipsychotic drug-induced constipation. Methods 〓Totally 68 patients with antipsychotic drug-induced constipation were divided into the study group and the control group, with 34 cases in each group. Patients in both two groups received routine treatment and nursing care, and those in the study group were given acupoint catgut-embedding. The clinical efficacy of the intervention was compared between two groups. The Bristol Stool Form Scale was used to evaluate the stool condition before and after the intervention. Results 〓there were four patients(n=2 in the study group, n=2 in the control group)lost to follow-up. The overall effective rate was 87.50%(28/32)in the study group and 56.25%(18/32)in the control group, with a significant difference(P0.05). Patients in the study group achieved a better improvement of Bristol Stool Form Scale compared with that in the control group(P0.05). Conclusion 〓The acupoint catgut-embedding is potentially effective to improve the treatment efficacy of antipsychotic drug-induced constipation and improve the rehabilitation of patients.
