Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of empathy training in relieving job burnout of nurses from emergency department. Methods 〓Totally 21 nurses from emergency department received empathy training for 6 months. A survey by using Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Health Professionals(JSE-HP)and Maslach Burnout Inventory(MBI)was conducted before and after training. The satisfactory degree of patients or their family members were assessed before(n=100)and after training(n=100). Results 〓The scores of psychological cognition, emotional experience and helping behavior were higher after training compared with those before training(P0.05). The scores of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment were lower after training compared with those before training(P0.05). The overall satisfactory rate of patients or their family members was 93.50%, which was higher than 77.00% before training(P0.05). Conclusion 〓Empathy training is potentially effective to enhance the ability of empathy and relieve the job burnout of nurses from emergency department, so as to improve the relationship between nurses and patients.
