Abstract:Objective To investigate the application of diet intervention of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)through syndrome differentiation for non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus patients. Methods A total of 160 non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus patients were randomly divided into the control group(n=80)and the observation group(n=80)according to the admission date. All patients received oral hypoglycemic agent and insulin treatment. The control group was given routine diet intervention while the observation group received diet intervention of TCM through syndrome differentiation. The changes in blood glucose index such as fasting blood glucose(FBG)and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2hPG), as well length of stay, were observed and compared between two groups. Results The level of FBG and 2hPG were decreased in both two groups after two course of intervention, and were lower in the observation group than those in the control group(P0.05). Patients in the observation group had a shorter length of stay compared with those in the control group(P0.05). Conclusion Diet intervention based on TCM through syndrome differentiation can effective improve the blood glucose control of non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus patients.
