:Objective To investigate the effect of proactive management on safety of medical examination among diabetic patients in the fasting state. Methods 〓Totally 352 diabetic patients with intensive insulin therapy were recruited as the control group between May and July 2018, another 341 patients were recruited as the observation group between August and October 2018. The routine management of medical examination was adopted in the control group, and interventions based on proactive management were carried out in the observation group. The incidence of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia during the fasting state were recorded. Results 〓The incidence of hypoglycemia was 2.35%(8/341)in the observation group, which was lower than 5.21%(20/352)in the control group(P0.05). There was no significant difference in incidence of hyperglycemia between two groups(1.17% vs. 1.70%, P0.05). The percentage of patients who had completed the medical examination was higher in the observation group than that in the control group(97.95% vs. 94.32%, P0.05). Conclusion 〓The proactive management is potentially effective to improve the completion rate of medical examination and reduce the risk of hypoglycemia among diabetic patients in the fasting state
