Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of mucopolysaccharide polysulfate cream combined with DuoDREM extra thin dressing in prevention of phlebophlogosis in patient with total parenteral nutrition(TPN)through superficial vein catheter. Methods A total of 90 patients with TPN through superficial vein catheter were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 45 cases in each group. The 3M Tegaderm film was used to securing the catheter in both of two groups, and the mucopolysaccharide polysulfate cream combined with DuoDREM extra thin dressing was used in the observation group additionally. The incidence and severity of phlebophlogosis was observed and compared between two groups. Results There was no patients with grade 4 phlebophlogosis during treatment. The incidence of phlebophlogosis was 28.89%(13/45)in the observation group and was 62.22%(28/45)in the control group, with a significant difference(P0.05). Patients in the observation group had less severity of phlebophlogosis compared with those in the control group(P0.05). Conclusion Application of mucopolysaccharide polysulfate cream combined with DuoDREM extra thin dressing can reduce the risk of phlebophlogosis in patient with TPN through superficial vein catheter.
