：Objective To investigate the training needs of clinical nurse specialists(CNS)in Psychiatry Department in Yunnan Province. Methods 〓The questionnaire was made based on the training current situation of CNS in psychiatric department of hospitals in Yunnan Province. The research objects were 36 nurses who participated in the Study Classes of Coping Skills of Psychiatric Disorder Nursing and Emergent Events in psychiatric department as well as CNS Training. Results 〓In terms of theoretical training needs, the scores of communication skills with patients who had psychiatric disorders, observation methods of psychiatric disorders as well as prevention, identification and management of crisis in psychiatric department were higher. In terms of clinical skill training needs, the scores of participation into the vocational study of Nursing Department, application of rescue equipment as well as new techniques and profession in Psychiatry Department were higher. In terms of training form needs, the nurses preferred the simultaneous implementation of theory and practice, diversified teaching methods and 3-month training cycle. Conclusion Understanding Yunnan province-circumstance and trainee needs is conductive to making specific and reasonable training modes and improving the training quality of CNS in Psychiatry Department in Yunnan Province.
