In general terms research on issues of Ottoman Empire in theeighteenth century is rather limited. Yet extensive informationexists on the political events, along with some piecemealevaluation of the socio-economic milieu, and the number ofstylistic studies on architecture and landscaping of therespective era; still not much is known, in the form of acomprehensive outlook of the acting forces and their outcomes.On the other hand, eighteenth century marks a turning pointin Ottoman history; until then the somewhat self-sufficientand closed Ottoman system is forced to open up by the growingconcern about their relative backwardness1 and the awarenessof the necessity for transformation
