摘要

lactobacillus GG (LGG, ATCC53103) is a widelyused probiotic bacterium, which was originallycharacterized with strong adhesion to humanintestinal mucus and epithelial cells. This bacterium cantemporarily colonize the human colon following oraladministration, and many health promoting effects havebeen documented during its persistence in the humanintestine. Among these health benefits is its strain-dependent characterized ability to alleviate/improve theintestinal disorders of host animals such as antagonismsagainst various pathogenic bacteria and viruses asso-ciated with diarrhea, and inflammatory bowel disease(IBD). Therefore, additional knowledge about the under-lying mechanism and key components related to theseLGG actions will greatly help to characterize thisprobiotic bacterium much more effectively.
