Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Burned-out Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

A 52 year-old man with chronicobstructive pulmonary disease and noprior cardiac history presented with newonset congestive heart failure (CHF).Echocardiography revealed severely depressedglobal left ventricular (LV) functionand mildly reduced right ventricular(RV) function. His estimated pulmonaryartery pressure was 80 mmHg, consistentwith severe pulmonary hypertension.EKG revealed normal sinus rhythm withright bundle branch block. The patientwas referred for cardiac magnetic resonanceimaging (CMR) to evaluate theetiology of the cardiomyopathy (CM).
