This review will focus primarily on the recognition, evaluation and management of atherosclerotic lower extremity arterial disease, an important subset of PAD. In 2005, Hirsch et al published the most re- cent ACC/AHA guidelines for the man- agement of PAD. 1 This important docu- ment should serve as a helpful reference for all clinicians. This review will attempt to highlight the most important recommen- dations from this document.
