The standard of care for treatment of Eichenholtz stage 1'° Charcot neuroarthropathy has been immobilization in a total contact cast and complete non-weight bearing.'°”? The period of non-weight beating immobilization should last until erythema, edema, and warmth subside and the foot becomes stable and consolidated enough to prevent anatomic destruction while ambulating.
