We have noticed an error in the sixth paragraph of theDiscussion of our article [1]. The corrected paragraphshould read:Another type IV nuclease, Gmr SD, found in an E. colistrain targets glucosylated hydroxymethyl-C and mayhave evolved to cut T4 genome [78]. The resistance ofhydroxymethyl-C-containing phage to restrictionenzymes but its sensitivity to Mcr BC [79], the resistanceof glucosylated hydroxymethyl-C to Mcr BC but sensitiv-ity to Gmr SD [78], and inhibition of Gmr SD by T4-coded internal protein [78] suggest an evolutionary armsrace (evolutionary struggle between competing sets ofco-evolving genes that develop adaptations and counter-adaptations against each other) between the bacteriaand the phage.
