Business and government have a long history ofusing psychological aptitude tests for hiring, performanceevaluation, and research. This paper reports the development ofa Driving Aptitude Test (DAT) for selecting capable candidateswith related sensorimotor abilities and aptitudes required forsafe and quality driving. It was developed based on the variouscommon perceptual and motor skills considered necessary fordriving, such as mechanical knowledge, spatial analysis,emergency preparedness and handling ability as well aspersonality. This test may be useful as a predictor of thecandidates’ future job performance effectiveness.
