摘要

The magnetic field can affect living systems in both negative and positive way, such effects including either inhibition or acceleration of the cells growth and metabolic activities. The present study was conducted to illustrate the stimulating and / or inhibiting effects of 5- 10 mT magnetic field on Chlorella sorokiniana microalgae that was prepared in laboratory from pure culture. The performed investigations were focused on highlighting the total chlorophyll by spectrophotometric measurements, based on preliminary results that followed the evolution of cell growth rate determined by empirical methods using data obtained by UV-Vis spectroscopy. Thus, for laboratory testing an experimental set-up was designed to allow a uniformly distributed magnetic field in which the algal suspension samples were exposed and analysed weekly. These original results showed a stimulating effect on the productivity of the algal biomass for a magnetic field of 50 Hz, but an inhibitory effect was noticed for the field of 15 Hz. Both influences could be applied for improving some industrial biotechnological processes.
