摘要

In this paper, a novel energy-efficient single-phaseinduction motor with three parallel-connected stator windingsand two external capacitors has been proposed. By selecting theappropriate capacitors, the currents in the three windings willbe approximately symmetric at rated load, thus high ratedefficiency can be obtained. The condition for balancedoperation is analyzed and the method for determining therequested capacitances is also obtained, based on thesymmetrical component method. It is concluded that, incomparison with three-phase induction motors of the samecapacity, the novel single-phase induction motor has nearly thesame efficiency but higher power factor when operating atrated load.
