Poly(carbazole-co-pyrene) is successfully achieved by electrochemical oxidation of the monomermixtures of carbazole (Cz) and pyrene in acetonitrile (ACN) containing sodium perchlorate (NaClO4).1 FT-IR and H NMR characterizations support that the obtained copolymers contain both pyrene andcarbazole units. A series of experiments are carried out to investigate the properties of the copolymersobtained from 0.2 M NaClO4/ACN. The electrochemical properties of the obtained copolymers arestudied by cyclic voltammetry (CV). Compared with polypyrene, the copolymer shows good solubilityin common organic solvents. The UV-vis absorption peak of the dedoped copolymer dissolved in DMFexhibits a significant red-shift. Fluorescence spectra studies reveal that the copolymer is a good blue- light emitter and the photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield () of the copolymer obtained at 1:1 is89% in DMF solution. The obtained copolymer also presents properties of electrochromism and goodthermal stability.
