摘要

The objective of this study was to evaluate the α-amylase inhibitory activity of various polyherbal extracts of Physalis angulata roots with Terminalia arjuna barks against porcine pancreatic amylase In vitro. The poly herbal extracts were prepared sequentially with aqueous, ethanol, and methanol. Different concentrations ( 20, 40, 80, 160, 320and 640 μg/mL) of each extract were made by using dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and subjected to α-amylase inhibitory assay using starch azure as a substrate. The absorbance was read at 595 nm using UV visible spectrophotometer. The percentage of α-amylase inhibitory activity of each extract was calculated. Three polyherbal extracts of Physalis angulata roots with Terminalia arjuna barks showed significant α-amylase inhibitory effects when compared with acarbose. This study supports the tribal and herbal medicine use concept that ethanol polyherbal extracts of Physalis angulata roots with Terminalia arjuna barks exhibit considerable α-amylase inhibitory activities.
