A Multimedia Offline Cell Phone System For English Language Learning

Among mobile computing devices, cell phones are the most wide spreaddevices and are available in the hands ofalmost every university student. Other than being portable phones, manyare equipped with functionalities including internetaccess, mp3/mp4 player, digital camera video recorder etc. and can run multimedia content. Thesefeaturesmakethemattractive as educational tools as well. In this paper we present an offline Flash-basedprototypesystem for English languagelearningusing cell phones. The system consists oftenLearning Objects (LO) constructed usingthe multimedia approach.Initial testing demonstrated theefficiency of the system anditwas extremely well received by students.
