The impact of laboratory initiated testing on Clostridium difficile surveillance rates

Catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) are one ofthe most frequent health care associated infections. Reviews to date havebeen inconclusive about benefits of antiseptic cleaning of the meatal areabefore and during catheter use to prevent CAUTIs. This study aimed tosystematically review the literature and meta-analyse studies investigatingeffectiveness of antiseptic cleaning before and during catheter insertion forprevention of CAUTI.
