Fond Reminiscenes and doting expectations......

I began my editing odyssey in the year 2004 when I took over the reins of the principal publication of the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS)–the prestigious Indian Journal of Psychiatry (IJP) which was truly the scientific symbol of Indian psychiatry. Today, 12 years later, I pen this review as the proud editor of a journal whose visibility and readership has grown exponentially and which presently stands as one of the most important scientific pillars and academic symbols of world psychiatry.It is unbelievable how fast time has moved on as the editor of this journal. Upon taking over the post, the objective was to improve the quality and content of the journal and ensure on-time publication, as well as to make the journal an internationally renowned and recognized one. It was a coveted role in which I believed I would be able to facilitate the communication of scientific appraisals with honesty, enterprise, and integrity. Looking back, the journey has truly been a remarkable learning experience and I have come to appreciate that scientific editing is a very challenging assignment; one that comes with a great responsibility. It is also a role that has been fascinating and immensely enjoyable, which has been interspersed with challenges that have helped me grow, learn, and expand my own skillset.
