Stereolithography- A Diagnostic Tool In Oral And Maxillofacial Surgical Treatment Planning

摘要

Stereolithography has recently been introduced as an adjunctto traditional methods of treatment planning for surgicalcorrection of dentofacial deformities. Three dimensional (3D)reformatting of Computer Tomography (CT) images hassimplified visualization of maxillofacial deformities, but anaccurate 3D model may better support patient education andinformed consent andpreoperative analysis of spatialmovements of bony structures, fabrication of templates forautogenous grafts, and post-operative analysis. The purpose ofthis paper is to understand the art and science ofstereolithography and their role in surgical planning in varioussituations of maxillofacial deformities for the benefit of thepatient and surgeon.
