“An Oral History of IIM Calcutta” is a commemorativevolume that comprises a selection of interviews, memoirs,anecdotes, archival documents and photographs tracing theevolution of the first-ever Indian Institute of Managementestablished in Calcutta in 1961. Initially set up with the help ofa Ford Foundation grant, in collaboration with MIT’s SloanSchool of Management, the book recreates the role IIM Calcutta (IIMC) has played in structuring management educationin the country and shaping contemporary India. A host of luminaries associated with IIMC like Ravi Matthai, Hiten Bhaya,William Pounds, Ashok Mitra, Krishna Palepu, RamachandraGuha and Ajit Balakrishnan have been featured in this book,which is a nostalgic trip down memory lane for people associated with this institute sometime or the other.
