Dual mechanisms for the regulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor by valproic acid in neural progenitor cells Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a form of neurodevelop- mental disorder that manifests in three major diagnostic features: deficits in social interactions, verbal and non-verbal commu- nication, and restricted repetitive behaviour. Additionally, the comorbidity of Intellectual Disability (ID) and ASD sits at around 60%. One of the genes that is implicated in ID and ASD is the deubiq- uitylating enzyme ubiquitin specific peptidase 9, X-linked (Usp9x). Using a conditional knock-out (cKO) mouse model, current study investigates the role of Usp9x in the pathophysiology associated with ID and ASD.
