Complexity of Mathematical Concepts in Poetical Work of Ion Barbu (Dan Barbilian)

The Romanian poet Ion Barbu, also known by the nickname Dan Barbilian, was one of the most famous poets and mathematicians of the last century Ion Barbu states that in poetry, as in geometry, he can see "a different symbol for expressing the possible forms of existence." For him, poetry is "the prolongation of geometry", so "remaining in the field of poetry has never abandoned the divinity of geometry". Dan Barbilian's contribution was to analyze how general this procedure is to build a distance and establish a theory of metric spaces fitted with this distance.
