First record of Aphis passeriniana (Del Guercio) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) in the Asia Minor peninsula

Apterous and alate viviparous females of the sage aphid, Aphis passeriniana (Del Guercio, 1900) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), were collected on Garden sage, Salvia officinalis L. (Lamiaceae) in a cultivated sage field in Bornova, Izmir Province, Turkey. The aphid is recorded for the first time from Turkey. Brief information about the morphology, biology and worldwide distribution of the sage aphid, including collecting data and a key to the apterous females of aphid species known to infest garden sage worldwide, are provided.
