In Merida, Venezuela, is a concentration of production units for growing trout. According to the production level are classified into large, medium and small producers. The research aims to conduct a diagnostic study of Local Agri-food Systems trout in Libertador, Rangel, Cardenal Quintero, Campo Elias and municipalities, to establish its characteristics and to determine their strengths, threats, weaknesses and opportunities. The Local Agri-food Systems methodology used in the diagnostic phase conducted through interviewing the producers. Among the most important findings highlight the limited availability of food for trout, the dispersion of producers, which influences the lack of proposals agreed to obtain financing, technical assistance, input supply and product distribution and finally the low willingness to develop activities related to the characteristics and functioning of the territory, essential for improving the Local Agri-food Systems element.
