摘要

The antioxidative pr oper ties of aqueous plant extracts were evaluated using common methods such as the Rancimat and 2,2'-diphe ny l-1-picrylhydrazy l (DPPH) free r adical me thod. More over, a voltamme tric procedure based on the pro tective effect of antioxidants against the oxidative DNA damage was employe d using a disposable DNA b iose nsor fabricated as a scree n-printed e lectrode chemically modified by calf thy mus double stranded (ds) DNA. The total polyphenols wer e also de ter mined spe ctrophotometr ically with the Folin-Ciocalteu age nt. The e xtracts o f ore gano and le mon balm exhib ited significantly higher activity than tho se o f thyme and agrimo ny. The r esults were treated statistically and their oper ational characte r is discussed.
