In2015,thresholdconceptsformedthefoundationoftwodisciplinarydocuments:theACRLFrameworkforInformationLiteracy(2015)andNamingWhatWeKnow:ThresholdConceptsofWritingStudies(2015).Whilethereisnoconsensusinthefieldsaboutthevalueofthresholdconceptsinteaching,readingthesixFramesintheACRLdocumentalongsidethethresholdconceptsofwritingstudiesilluminatesoverlappingelementsthatmayempowerfacultyinbothfieldstoadvocatecollectivelyagainstskills-focusedwritingandresearchinstructionthroughcross-disciplinaryintegrations.Tofacilitatecross-disciplinaryconversationsaroundthedocuments,theauthorsproposeanorderforreadingtheFrames,identifytheassociatedwritingconcepts,andexplainhowthesharedconceptsrevealaninternalcomplexitywhichmayhaveimplicationsforteachingtheACRLFramework.
