Dormant for more than a decade, the U.S. Navy's Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP)Program is being revived through the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)Office of the Director for Force Electromagnetic (EM) Effects and SpectrumManagement. The program's immediate goals include establishing cognizance aboutcurrent standards for system acquisition as related to EMP survivability? assistingwith developing standards and methodology to test and assess future systems?assessing the current posture of mission critical systems with regard to EMPsurvivability? and coordinating with other Department of Defense (DoD) servicesand entities to share EMP resources and information.
