.Theconceptofrobustnessisrelativelynewandhasemergedasaresultofreachingthecollapseofsomebuildingsinaccidentalorexceptionalcircumstances,collapseincompatiblewiththeinitialdegradationthatrepresented"groundzero"oftheaxisofcollapseproduction.Eurocode1definesrobustnessas"theabilityofastructure(orportionofthestructure)towithstandextremeevents(suchasfire,explosion,impactorconsequencesoferrorsduetohumannature)withoutsufferingdegradationdisproportionatetheoriginalcause".Robustdesignofastructureshouldnotbeseenasanoversizingofallelements,butasanadditionalsizingofelementstomakeastructuretohaveasatisfactoryreactiontotheemergenceofexceptionalactions.Thispaperpresentsmethodsandmodelstoassesstherobustnessofawoodenbuilding,analysingriskofaccidentalactionsandmeasuresthatcanensurestructuralrobustness
