Optimal Structural Rehabilitation Strategies for Residential Buildings

The choice of a correct intervention strategy is conditioned by the complete understanding of the individual deficiencies of the structural and non-structural elements, their combined effect on the seismic behavior of the building, as well as the general deficiencies regarding strength, deformability, redundancy and structural regularity. Intervention measures must be correlated with the degree of damage (degradation) of the materials as a result of earthquakes incurred by the construction, other specific exploitation actions, differential land-fill or environmental factors. Intervention measures aim to eliminate or significantly reduce the deficiencies of the different nature of the structure and of the non-structural components. The study examined the possibilities of implementing the proposed strategies for the structural rehabilitation of the D1 building, as well as only two strategies, namely the reduction of the exploitation period and the consolidation of the building.
