"I rOU might be interested, particularly those of you who are not directly related to medical school libraries, to know a little bit about the accreditation system which has been in quite effective operation for a number of years. As a matter of fact, no less a person than Dr. William K. Selden, Executive Secretary of the National Commission on Accrediting, made such strong statements that the accrediting program of American medical schools has passed the point of significance. To some extent it has served as a prototype for many of the accreditation programs in other types of schools.
