Crystal structure of the quaternary compounds CuFe2AlSe4 and CuFe2GaSe4 from X-ray powder diffraction

The crystal structure of the quaternary compounds CuFe₂AlSe₄ and CuFe₂GaSe₄, belonging to the system Ia€“II₂a€“IIIa€“VI₄, were characterized using X-ray powder diffraction data. Both compounds crystallize in the tetragonal space group I₄2m (No. 121), e?‘? = 2, with unit cell parameters e?‘? = 5.609(1) ?…, e?‘? = 10.963(2) ?… for CuFe₂AlSe₄ and e?‘? = 5.6165(3) ?…, e?‘? = 11.075(1) ?… for CuFe₂GaSe₄. These compounds are isostructural with CuFe₂InSe₄, and have a normal adamantane stannite structure.
