The sailing booster System (SBS) is the latest technological advancement to promise steadier performance on the water. The system employs two outward-facing, L-shaped hydrofoils - one port, one starboard - that increase vessel speed, safety and comfort using an electronic control box (the system's brains), hydraulic cylinders and helm-mounted control panels. 1f "The calculations, prototype, sea trials, tank tests and design took a lot of time and effort," says Manoel Chaves, SBS's inventor and the owner of MCP Yachts, which is building Flying Ahead Time, a 79-foot aluminum performance-cruisingyacht with SBS foils.
