Universal Engineering, a Weymouth-based firm with customers ranging from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to the oil and gas industry, has become one of the latest Autodesk customers to extend the benefits of 3D digital design by investing in Autodesk Productstream data management software. Peter James, Universal Engineering's design manager, predicts that Productstream will help take away the headaches surrounding 'version control' when sharing documents with departments outside the drawing office. "Using Productstream means electronic drawings are only available as the release issue and this should eliminate the risk of using the wrong version. As a result, sharing 3D drawings and design data among the wider team, including our manufacturing facility, will be far more straightforward."
