Composites Go to Mars on MAVEN Spacecraft

A spacecraft on its way to Mars is carrying core structures made with carbon-fiber composites. Launched in November, NASA's Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolu-tioN (MAVEN) spacecraft is the first one designed for exploring and understanding the upper atmosphere of the red planet.
