When a patient can no longer communicate the problems in the oral region and is dependent on nursing, the treating dentist is confronted with severe problems. The aim of this article is to explain the often extremely difficult (pain) diagnostics in geriatric and often multimorbid patients. Furthermore, the most important risk factors and the inclusion in the surgical treatment planning will be presented.
