The Democratic People's Republic of (North) Korea (DPRK) Administration of Kim Jong-Il (pictured, top) has made major strategic gains in the latest round of its confrontation with the United States: (a) It is now firmly established as a military nuclear-capable state, with strategic reach, and with a broad range of military deterrence against physical attack; and (b) It has successfully assisted the clerical leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the DPRK's principal ally and client, in resisting US moves which are effectively isolating it.
