NATO and greek intelligence officials are concerned that a military confrontation ofsome sort between Turkey and Greece :ould be initiated by Turkey in October 2006, after the Summer tourism season which is critical to the Turkish economy. The move could bring to a head many of the outstanding issues which the European Union (EU) had insisted be resolved between Turkey and Greece (and, as well, between Turkey and Cyprus), and could well be the watershed in Turkey's bid to join the EU.
